K1-5TH GRADE SCHOOL SUPPLIES:

Spring Valley Academy’s Elementary Division adopted the Responsive Classroom approach that was implemented in 2011-2012 school year. “The Responsive Classroom approach is a widely used, research-backed approach to elementary education that increases academic achievement, decreases problem behaviors, improves social skills, and leads to more high-quality instruction.” We started with morning meetings and will continue to add more aspects of this approach each year. In addition, this year the teachers have decided to use the community supplies approach. This means a supply fee of $10.00 will be applied for grades 1-5 and $30.00 for grades K1-K2. Teachers will purchase the supplies needed for each classroom. Most teachers’ supplies will exceed this amount but they have agreed to make up the difference with their class trusts.
