Project M-Pact
Students stop long enough for a team group photo

On Friday, October 21, our high school students participated in various community service project locations throughout the Miami Valley for their "Project M-pact" day. They divided into eight different teams under the direction of our high school teachers volunteering for the following projects:
•Clean up and some tree planting up at the Sugar Creek, Twin Creek and Wegerzyn Metro Parks
•Played with the children at the Catholic Social Services (CSS) Day Care Center
•Assisted with the CSS fund raising mailing project
•Did yard work around the CSS main office building

All in all the day was quite successful as was evident by some very tired but nonetheless enthusiastic students. This service project outreach is coordinated by Ken Knudsen, SVA Chaplain, in conjunction with The United Way of the greater Dayton area. Giving Project
Middle school students return to SVA from their successful shopping mission!

This year our students in the middle school and high school divisions joined their efforts in a "Giving Project" for the Holidays. This was accomplished by having a coin drive to benefit needy families in the community whose names were provided by The United Way organization. Our goal was to collect $600 so that the students could spend $100 on each of the six children they "adopted" for Christmas and we're happy to announce that goal was reached with a total of $781.54!

The students excitedly loaded the buses headed to Target and Walmart where they shopped for their "adopted" kids until each child's gifts were purchased. Once they returned to the school they began wrapping and tagging all the presents which students couldn't help but embrace the festive spirit of Christmas joy. Mrs. Sharon Williams, 6th Grade Teacher, shared, "This project is both a lot of fun and easy to manage. The students are quick, savvy shoppers and the whole day runs like clockwork. We truly hope this holiday will be one of blessings and cheer for these families!"
